Like all other tasks, we got our wedding flowers through a friend of a friend recommendation as well. My wife had a friend at our church that knew a lady that had a flower shop.

We met with her several times and of course she gave us a great price. The Wedding Flowers we chose were gardenias.

Gardenias are beautiful smelling flowers but there are thousands to choose from. The winner of the most popular flower brides want try to get to accent their wedding is the lily of the valley.

The problem is you can only get it seasonally, mostly during the months of April and May. Facts: (Courtesy of flowers.org).
This genre of wedding flowers signifies a "return to happiness". Lily of the valley is much used in bridal arrangements for their sweet perfume.

Name: Botanically known as Convallaria.
Description: Little white bells arranged up a short delicate stem.
Origin: First cultivated in 1420.
Color: White.
Care Tips: Must not be left out of water too long. Keep cool and shaded.

Traditionally associated with May 1st, especially in France where the "muguet" is handed out at special events.

May 1 is also La Fête du Muguet, and the tradition is to give the ones you love a little bouquet of lily of the valley. It was to bring good luck and celebrate the coming of spring. It can be very expensive because it's seasonal. So, keep that in mind as you plan your wedding.

You could use artificial lilies of the valley, only if you choose to do so. The lily is chosen because of the great fragrance that comes from it.

As I mentioned earlier the gardenia smells great also and can be another options for your wedding as well. You will know what to choose when you find the shop you choose to get them from. Chances are, you already have a favorite flower.

After we chose the wedding flowers, we did a couple of smart things by spreading them out to fill different areas of the church. That helped with the cost as well.

Check to see if you might have too many flowers in one area of the wedding. Maybe the church can use fewer flowers so the reception area will get more. We used flowers to top our cake instead of the traditional Wedding Cake Topper.

When your guests enter the reception hall they are sure to get the same elegant wedding feeling you created in the church area. Unless you have your wedding outdoors.

My wife also loves gladiolus. So, on special occasions, I get her a bouquet to enjoy. The main point is to network through your friends and family. They will have a wealth of information and knowledge you just can't find anywhere else.
