I did not use a traditional wedding cake topper for my wedding. Most couples do though. There are so many amazing options and techniques to choose from.
Some couples take a photos of themselves during their engagement or a night out on the town and add the photo to the cake top made of icing.
Apparently there is a machine that allows you to transfer the pixels of a photo to make and exact copy of the original and which can be used as a cake topper.
Wedding cake figurines are also popular as well. There are a couple of clever companies that are able to carve or sculpt the likeness of a person into a figuring to used as a topper.

We didn't want any of the above solutions so we opted to use beautiful flowers to adorn our wedding cake. We didn't use flowers to in order to save money, although you certainly can do that.
We were able to get the best use from the flowers the florist supplied for the wedding. While your flower person is arranging everything for your wedding day, ask them to set as side a small arrangement to be used as a cake topper.
After you decided what you want to put on top of your cake, think about whether you will smash cake in each others face or not. Most of the weddings I've attended, the couples cut the cake, take a piece and smear it all over their partners face. |
Everyone has their own traditions. We chose to lovingly share a piece of cake together. I wasn't about to start off on the wrong foot. As far as cake traditions are concerned, you have so many choices. Instead of a simple cake and punch reception how about adding a cake buffet into the equation?
